This year’s Live Concert Headliner is Jazz Legend, Mr. Azar Lawrence, the notable tenor saxophone player who joined McCoy Tyner’s band after the passing of the great tenor saxophonist, John Coltrane.  The Concert is hosted by 602AZ Magazine and NextStudent Music Academy, with special guest appearances by celebrity Universal Recording Artist, Nayo Jones (FOX/ABC); Latin sensation Carlos Rivas Y Mex-Sal; Papa John DeFrancesco, Dowell Davis, and many other outstanding fine Jazz musicians.

602AZ Magazine is delighted to report that Azar Lawrence is coming to Phoenix, Arizona to help bring attention to Nextstudent Music Academy’s summer music camp, and to help raise money to give 100 at-risk students free lessons for the years 2014/15.  This is an after-school program designed and penned by Doc Jones, (Publisher, Musician, and Executive Director of Nextstudent Music Academy), “With Music on Their Mind, There’s No Time for Crime.”

PRLog (Press Release)April, 2014Phoenix, AZ.In November 2011, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) officially designated April 30th as International Jazz Day in order to highlight Jazz and its diplomatic role of uniting people in all corners of the globe.  This year, 2014, 602AZ Magazine, in conjunction with the State of Arizona is now set to kick off  the highly anticipated all-star jazz concert live in the city of Phoenix to honor Jazz Appreciation Day’s 2nd Annual International Jazz Day.  The Phoenix Jazz Concert will begin at 4:00 pm and run until 8:00 pm at CityScape in downtown Phoenix at 1 East Washington.

The concert welcomes families and adults to enjoy the day’s exciting festivities which includes Celebrity Guests and hosted by renowned jazz musicians and composers, Doc Jones and Kerry Campbell, who will be leading an all-star band with special guest appearances including celebrity Universal Recording Artist, Nayo Jones (Fox/ABC), Carlos Rivas Y Mex-Sal and other special guests.

In celebration of the power of Jazz and the arts, a youth presentation will be performed by Country Day, the city of Phoenix’ Elementary and HS Jazz Band, amongst other musical guests. After the all-star concert, a VIP after-party celebration will be held at a location TBA with stars and executives in attendance, with 602AZ Magazine serving as the presenting sponsor.

International Jazz Day is chaired and led by Irina Bokova, UNESCO Director General, and legendary jazz pianist and composer Herbie Hancock, who serves as a UNESCO Ambassador for Intercultural Dialogue and Chairman of the Thelonious Monk Institute of Jazz. The Institute is the lead nonprofit organization charged with planning, promoting and producing this annual celebration, which began in 2012.  504Magazine is a premiere jazz publication with its main publishing hub in the city of New Orleans.
